Abstract

ABSTRACT

School culture plays a significant role in creating a positive learning environment and improving the quality of education at the elementary level. The principal’s leadership is one of the key factors influencing the development of school culture. This study aims to analyze the role of transformational leadership of principals in developing school culture in several elementary schools in Situbondo City. This research employed a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving principals and teachers as research participants. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that transformational leadership practices are reflected through four dimensions: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. These leadership practices contribute to the development of positive school culture such as discipline, collaboration, literacy activities, and character building. The study highlights the importance of transformational leadership in strengthening school culture and supporting effective educational management in elementary schools.

ABSTRAK

Budaya sekolah memiliki peran penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang positif serta meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan pada tingkat sekolah dasar. Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah menjadi salah satu faktor utama yang mempengaruhi pengembangan budaya sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dalam pengembangan budaya sekolah di beberapa sekolah dasar di Kota Situbondo . Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi multi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi yang melibatkan kepala sekolah dan guru sebagai partisipan penelitian. Analisis data menggunakan model analisis interaktif yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik kepemimpinan transformasional tercermin melalui empat dimensi, yaitu idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, dan individualized consideration. Praktik tersebut berkontribusi dalam membangun budaya sekolah yang positif seperti disiplin, kolaborasi, literasi, dan penguatan karakter siswa.
