Implementasi Total Quality Management (TQM) dalam Lembaga Pendidikan Islam: Studi Empiris di Madrasah Tsanawiyah

ABSTRACT
This study aims to describe the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) based on Islamic values at MTs Puspa Bangsa Banyuwangi. A qualitative case study approach was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings indicate that TQM was implemented systematically through participatory leadership, stakeholder involvement, continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and digitalized administrative systems. The school principal played a pivotal role in building a quality culture grounded in Islamic principles. Challenges such as limited funding and resistance to change were addressed through internal training and intensive communication. The study demonstrates that TQM can serve as an effective approach for improving the quality of Islamic education when applied contextually and adaptively. These findings contribute to the literature on modern Islamic education management by showcasing a successful real-world application of TQM that enhances both academic and spiritual development.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi Total Quality Management (TQM) dalam pengelolaan madrasah berbasis nilai-nilai Islam di MTs Puspa Bangsa Banyuwangi. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi terhadap kegiatan manajemen madrasah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa TQM diimplementasikan secara sistematis dan menyeluruh melalui kepemimpinan partisipatif, pelibatan semua stakeholder, perbaikan berkelanjutan, pengambilan keputusan berbasis data, serta digitalisasi sistem manajemen. Kepala madrasah memainkan peran sentral dalam membangun budaya mutu yang terintegrasi dengan nilai-nilai keislaman. Kendala yang dihadapi seperti keterbatasan dana dan resistensi perubahan diatasi melalui pelatihan internal dan komunikasi intensif. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa TQM dapat menjadi pendekatan efektif dalam meningkatkan mutu lembaga pendidikan Islam jika diintegrasikan secara kontekstual dan adaptif. Penelitian ini memperkaya literatur manajemen pendidikan Islam modern dengan menghadirkan praktik konkret penerapan TQM yang berhasil membangun kualitas akademik dan spiritual secara simultan.
