Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze the role of the principal’s academic supervision in improving the quality of science learning at SDN 1 Panji Situbondo. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of the principal and classroom teachers who teach science subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used an interactive analysis model including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the principal’s academic supervision was implemented through supervision planning, classroom observation, and follow-up feedback to teachers. The implementation of academic supervision had a positive impact on improving teachers’ pedagogical competence, the use of more varied teaching methods, and the utilization of learning media in science learning. Therefore, the principal’s academic supervision plays an important role in improving the quality of science learning in elementary schools.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran IPA di SDN 1 Panji Situbondo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari kepala sekolah dan guru kelas yang mengajar mata pelajaran IPA. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model analisis interaktif yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dilaksanakan melalui perencanaan supervisi, observasi kelas, serta pemberian umpan balik kepada guru sebagai tindak lanjut supervisi. Pelaksanaan supervisi akademik memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru, penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang lebih variatif, serta pemanfaatan media pembelajaran dalam proses pembelajaran IPA. Dengan demikian, supervisi akademik kepala sekolah berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar.
