Abstract

ABSTRACT

The leadership of the madrasah head plays an essential role in fostering a religious culture and improving student quality holistically. This study aims to analyze the role of madrasah head leadership and the implementation of religious culture in enhancing student quality at MTs Sunan Ampel Semeru Pasirian Lumajang. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The main subject of the study was the madrasah head, while supporting informants included the vice principal, teachers, educational staff, and students. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that the madrasah head applies a democratic and participatory leadership style supported by exemplary discipline and religious attitudes. The implementation of religious culture is carried out through habituation of worship activities, routine religious programs, and reinforcement of school regulations based on Islamic values. This leadership and religious culture have a positive impact on improving student quality in both academic achievement and character development. The study concludes that the integration of madrasah head leadership and religious culture is a key factor in creating a high-quality and character-based madrasah.

ABSTRAK

Kepemimpinan kepala madrasah memiliki peran penting dalam membangun budaya religius dan meningkatkan kualitas siswa secara menyeluruh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kepemimpinan kepala madrasah dan implementasi budaya religius dalam peningkatan kualitas siswa di MTs Sunan Ampel Semeru Pasirian Lumajang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala madrasah, sedangkan informan pendukung meliputi wakil kepala madrasah, guru, tenaga kependidikan, dan siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala madrasah menerapkan gaya kepemimpinan demokratis dan partisipatif yang didukung oleh keteladanan dalam kedisiplinan dan religiusitas. Implementasi budaya religius dilakukan melalui pembiasaan ibadah, kegiatan keagamaan rutin, serta penguatan tata tertib berbasis nilai Islam. Kepemimpinan dan budaya religius tersebut berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan kualitas siswa, baik dari aspek akademik maupun karakter. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi kepemimpinan kepala madrasah dan budaya religius menjadi faktor kunci dalam mewujudkan madrasah yang bermutu dan berkarakter.
