Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aims to Implement an English vocabulary picture card learning media that is attractive, practical, and effective for fourth-grade students at MIN 6 Jembrana Bali. The background of this research is based on the students’ low vocabulary mastery due to monotonous teaching methods and lack of visual media. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects consisted of the English teacher and fourth-grade students of class IV-A. The results showed that the picture card media significantly improved student engagement, learning motivation, and vocabulary comprehension. Students learned more enthusiastically through card games and group interactions. Teachers also benefited from the media as it was easy to use and flexible for various learning activities. Despite some technical constraints, the media was considered feasible and has potential for further development. In conclusion, picture card media is effective in supporting fun, contextual, and age-appropriate English vocabulary learning for elementary school students.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan media pembelajaran berupa kartu bergambar kosakata Bahasa Inggris yang menarik, praktis, dan efektif bagi siswa kelas IV di MIN 6 Jembrana Bali. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya penguasaan kosakata siswa akibat metode pembelajaran yang monoton dan minim media visual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari guru Bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas IV-A MIN 6 Jembrana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media kartu bergambar mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, motivasi belajar, dan pemahaman kosakata secara signifikan. Siswa belajar dengan lebih antusias melalui permainan kartu dan interaksi kelompok. Guru juga merasa terbantu karena media ini mudah digunakan dan fleksibel dalam berbagai kegiatan pembelajaran. Meskipun terdapat kendala teknis, media ini dinilai layak digunakan dan dapat dikembangkan lebih lanjut. Kesimpulannya, media kartu bergambar efektif untuk
mendukung pembelajaran kosakata Bahasa Inggris yang menyenangkan, kontekstual, dan sesuai dengan karakteristik anak usia sekolah dasar.
