Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine the effect of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model on students’ motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was employed. The research subjects consisted of two classes at Bany Khozin Bangsalsari Islamic Senior High School, serving as the experimental and control groups. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire and a mathematics achievement test, then analyzed through an independent sample t-test and MANOVA. The results revealed that the implementation of the NHT learning model had a significant effect on improving students’ learning motivation. Furthermore, students taught using the NHT model achieved higher mathematics learning outcomes compared to those taught through conventional instruction. Simultaneously, the NHT cooperative learning model was proven effective in enhancing both motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. These findings indicate that the NHT model can be considered an effective alternative instructional strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning at the senior high school level.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap motivasi dan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu pretest–posttest control group. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas Madrasah Aliyah Bany Khozin Bangsalsari, yang masing-masing berperan sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket motivasi belajar dan tes hasil belajar matematika, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji independent sample t-test dan MANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model NHT berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan motivasi belajar matematika siswa. Selain itu, hasil belajar matematika siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model NHT lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Secara simultan, model pembelajaran NHT terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model NHT dapat dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran inovatif untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di Madrasah Aliyah.
